In the year 1992, the Task Force started to register under the name of Sri Maha Vihara Task Force under the registration number බෞ/කො/කාසා/කො/හං/43 of the Department of Buddhist Affairs.
The founding officers are as follows.
President – Ven. Mandawala Soratha Thero, Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero
Vice President – Mr. Dhanapala Amaratunga
Secretary – Mr. Sarath Gunasekara
Treasurer – Mr. Gamini Dias
Although it was registered as a working society in the year 1992, it was the first ‘Viharastha Dayaka Sabhawa’ to be maintained under the leadership of the then Incumbents and to work for the betterment of the temple.
During the 1970s and 1980s, M.D.H Jayawardena, Mr. A.P Dias, Mr. Amarasinghe Padmaperuma, Mr. M.P Perera, Mr. Cornelis Bassunnahe, Upasika of Merinona, and Emanona continued to work tirelessly for the betterment of the temple. Ven. Mandawala Soratha Thero passed away in the year 1996. Thereafter Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero was appointed as the Chairman of the Task Force. Mr. Dhanapala Amaratunga also passed away in 2006 due to his death Mr.C. Jayasekara became the Vice President. Later, Mr. C. Jayasekara also passed away in 2019 and Mr. Mahinda Sagara was appointed as the Vice-Chairman. After Amal Gamalath was appointed as the founding secretary after the death of Sarath Gunasekera in 2014.
The Task Force is the main society of the temple. It also represents 16 donor houses and 1800 donor houses belonging to the temple. Currently, 105 Contributor families are around Sri Maha Vihara. It is a society that carries out a number of activities annually for the development of the temple.
- Providing pre-facilities for the Poya Day program.
- Contributing to the Alms Giving Ceremony and All Night Pirith Sermon in memory of Ven. Mandawala Soratha Thero in the month of April.
- Systematic organization and contribution of Katina Pujamaya Pinkama.
- Every year of December 31st, Deva Pujamaya Pinkama is performed to seek blessings.
- Conducting almsgiving and Pirith sermon on the birthday of the present Chief Incumbent Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero.
ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරස්ථ කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය
1992 වසරේ “ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරස්ථ කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය” යන නාමයෙන් බෞද්ධ කටයුතු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ලියාපදිංචි අංක බෞ/කො/කාසා/කො/හං/43 යන අංක යටතේ කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය ලියාපදිංචි කරන ලදී. ආරම්භයේ දී පහත පරිදි නිළධාරීහු ක්‍රියා කළහ.
- පැවිදි සභාපති – පුජ්‍ය මණ්ඩාවල සෝරත හිමි , පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමි
- ගිහි උප සභාපති – ධනපාල අමරතුංග මයා
- ලේකම් – සරත් ගුණසේකර මයා
- භාණ්ඩාගාරික – ගාමිණී ඩයස් මයා
1992 වසරේ දී කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය ලෙස ලියාපදිංචි වුවත් ඊට ප්‍රථම “විහාරස්ථ දායක සභාව” ලෙස එවකට විහාරාධිපතීන් වහන්සේලාගේ මුලිකත්වයෙන් පවත්වාගෙන යමින් විහාරස්ථානයේ අභීවෘද්ධිය වෙනුවෙන් ක්‍රියා කරන්නට විය. මෙකී 1970 සහ 1980 කාල සීමාවන් තුළ දී ඇම්.ඩී.එච්. ජයවර්ධන මහතා, ඒ.පී. ඩයස් මහතා, අමරසිංහ පද්මපෙරුම මහතා, ඇම්.පී.පෙරේරා මහතා, කොරනේලිස් බාස්සුන්නැහේ, මේරිනෝනා උපාසිකාව, එමානෝනා උපාසිකාව යන දායක පිරිස විහාරස්ථානයේ උන්නතිය වෙනුවෙන් නිරන්තර කැපවීමෙන් ක්‍රියා කරන්නට විය.
1996 වසරේ දී පුජ්‍ය මණ්ඩාවල සෝරත හිමියන්ගේ අපවත් වීමෙන් පසුව පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියෝ කාර්ය සාධක සමිතියේ පැවිදි සභාපති ලෙස පත්විය. ආරම්භක ගිහි උප සභාපති වූ ධනපාල අමරතුංග මහතා 2006 වසරේ මිය යාමත් සමඟ ඒ සඳහා සී. ජයසේකර මහතා පත්විය. සී. ජයසේකර මහතා ද 2019 වසරේ අභාවයට පත් වීම නිසා උප සභාපති තනතුරට මහින්ද සාගර මහතා පත්වීය.
ආරම්භක ලේකම් වරයා ලෙස ක්‍රියා කළ සරත් ගුණසේකර මහතා 2014 වසරේ මිය යාමෙන් පසුව අමල් ගමලත් මහතා ලේකම් වරයා ලෙස පත් විය.
කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය විහාරස්ථානයේ ප්‍රධානම සමිතිය වන අතර විහාරස්ථානයට අයත් දායක පේරු 16ක් හා දායක නිවෙස් 1800 නියෝජනය කරමින් පේරුභාර දායක දායිකාවන් 105ක පිරිසක් වර්තමානයේ සමාජිකත්වය දරමින් ක්‍රියා කරණු ලබයි. මෙම පේරු භාර දායක දායිකාවන් මගින් සියලු දායක පවුල් විහාරස්ථානයේ දියුණුව වෙනුවෙන් සම්බන්ධ කිරීම මෙමගින් සිදුකරණු ලබයි.
- පොහෝ දින වැඩසටහන සඳහා ප්‍රත්‍ය පහසුකම් සැලසීම.
- වසරේ අප්‍රේල් මාසයේ මුල සිදුකරන පුජ්‍ය මණ්ඩාවල සෝරත නාහිමියන්ගේ ගුණ සමරු දානමය පිංකම හා සර්ව රාත්‍රික පිරිත් දේශනාව වෙනුවෙන් දායකත්වය ලබා දීම.
- කඨින පුජාමය පිංකම ක්‍රමාණුකූලව සංවිධානය කිරීම හා දායකත්වය ලබා දීම.
- වසරේ අවසන් දිනයේ රාත්‍රී (දෙසැම්බර් 31) ආශිර්වාද පතා දේව පුජාමය පිංකම සිදුකිරීම.
- වර්තමාන විහාරාධිපති පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියන්ගේ ජන්ම දිනය වෙනුවෙන් ආශිර්වාදාත්මක ගිලන්පස දානමය පිංකම හා පිරිත් දේශනාව පැවැත්වීම.
මෙවැනි කාර්යයන් රැසක් කාර්යයන් කාර්ය සාධක සමිතිය වාර්ෂිකව සිදු කරනු ලබන අතර, විහාරස්ථානයේ සංවර්ධනය පිණිස කටයුතු කරයි
