Ven. Suriyapokune Chandima Thero and Ven. Kadugoda Wimalatissa Thero designed a lamp for the Poson Poya Day,2006. Unfortunately, it could not be finished. Later, it was completed with the financial assistance of Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero, local artists, and youth.
Since then it has been conducted under the guidance of Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero.
For 13 consecutive years, a lamp post that had been systematically developed was initiated by the Buddhist Association and displayed for free to many people in the country. (However, with the onset of the Corona epidemic in the country, the Poson Lamp was temporarily halted in 2019, 2020, and 2021)
At the end of the 2006 Poson Festival, the society was started under the name of ‘Sri Maha Viharaya Buddhist Association’ with the help of those who helped in this endeavor.

- Performing an annual Blood Donation Ceremony for the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital on the occasion of the birthday of Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero’s, since 2011. (300 overs Blood Dorners)
- Conducting an Alms Giving Ceremony for the parents attending the Maternity Clinic of the Padukka Medical Officer of Health Annually, since 2012 January.
- On the advice of the Chief Incumbent, contributions are made for various such social activities
ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරස්ථ බෞද්ධ සංගමය
2006 වසරේ ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරවාසීව වැඩ විසූ පුජ්‍ය සුරියපොකුනේ චන්දිම හිමි තම සහෝදර හිමි නමක් වූ පුජ්‍ය කඩුගොඩ විමලතිස්ස හිමියන් හා එක්ව පොසොන් පොහොය දිනය වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රදර්ශනය කිරීම සඳහා පොසොන් කුඩුවක් නිර්මාණය කරන්නට යෙදුනි. එහිදී උන් වහන්සේලාට එය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම නිම කිරීමේ අපහසුතා මතු විය. මෙහිදී මේ සඳහා මුල් වු පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියන් ප්‍රදේශයේ කලාකරුවන් හා තරුණයන් එකතුකොට මුල්‍ය ප්‍රතිපාදන ලබා දෙමින් පොසොන් පහන් කුඩුව නිර්මාණය කිරීමට අනුශාසකත්වය ලබා දෙන්නට විය. එතැන් පටන් පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියන්ගේ අනුශාසකත්වය මත මේ දක්වා අඛණ්ඩව වසර 13ක් පුරාවට ක්‍රමයෙන් සංවර්ධනය වූ පොසොන් පහන් කුඩුවක් බෞද්ධ සංගමයේ මුලිකත්වයෙන් ඉදි කර නොමිලයේම රටේ බොහෝ ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරන්නට විය. (Covid 19 වෛරසය නිසා 2019,2020,2021 වසරවල පොසොන් කුඩුව නිර්මාණය තාවකාලිකව නැවැත්විය.)
2006 වසරේ පොසොන් පහන් කුඩුව අවසානයේ දී ඒ සඳහා උපකාරීව, දායකත්වයෙන් ක්‍රියා කළ පිරිස එකතු කොට “ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරස්ථ බෞද්ධ සංගමය” යන නාමයෙන් මෙම සමිතිය ආරම්භ කරන්නට විය. එහි දී,

යන අය ආරම්භක නිළධාරීන් ලෙස උත්ත තනතුරු දරන්නට විය. මෙම සංගමයේ ප්‍රධානම කාර්‍යය වූයේ පොසොන් පහන් කූඩුව නිර්මාණය කිරීමයි. නමුත් එයටම සීමා නොවී විවිධ සාමාජීය කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් ද තම දායකත්වයන් සපයන්නට සංගමයේ පිරිස පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියන්ගේ අනුශාසනා මත ක්‍රියා කරන්නට විය. ඒ අතර,
- 2011 වසරේ සිට පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමියන්ගේ ජන්ම දිනය වෙනුවෙන් මහරගම අපේක්ෂා රෝහල සඳහා ලේ දන් දීමේ පිංකමක් රුධිර දායකයන් 300කට වැඩි පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් වාර්ෂිකව සිදු කිරීම.
- 2012 වසරේ සිට වාර්ෂිකව (ජනවාරි මාසයේ) පාදුක්ක සෞඛ්‍යය වෛද්‍ය නිළධාරී කාර්යාලයේ මාතෘ සායනය වෙනුවෙන් සහභාගී වන දෙමාපියන් වෙනුවෙන් දානමය පිංකමක් සිදුකිරීම.
යන කටයුතු මුලිකව සිදු කරන අතර මීට අමතරව විවිධ සමාජ කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් විහාරාධිපති හිමියන්ගේ අනුශාසනා මත දායකත්වය ලබා දෙනු ලබයි.
