විහාරාධිපති ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ පණිවිඩය

වසර 150ක් පමණ ඈතට දිවෙන ඉතිහාසයක් ඇති මෙම පිං බිම හා සම්බුද්ධ සාසනය වෙනුවෙන් යමක් කරන්නට ලැබීම පිළිබඳව මා අතිශයින්ම සතුටට පත්වෙනවා. කන්ද උඩරට කෑගලු දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ බෙරන්නාවේ සීපෝත් නමැති අතිශය දුෂ්කර වූ සුන්දර ගම්මානයක උපත ලද මා 1961 වසරේ උපත ලබා මාගේ පැවිදි සහෝදර දේදුගල කාශ්‍යප හිමියන්ගේ මඟ පෙන්වීමෙන් 1974 වසරේ උතුම් ප්‍රවෘජ්ජා භුමියට පත්විය. දශක පහකට ආසන්න කාලයක් පැවිදි දිවිය ගත කළ මා ජිවිත ආවර්ජනාවක යෙදෙන විට ඉමහත් සතුටක් සිතට නැගේ. ශාසනික වශයෙන් විහාරස්ථානයටත් සම්බුද්ධ ශාසනයේ චිරස්ථිතිය උදෙසාත් කළ කී දේ පිළිබඳව සිහිකරණ විට නිරාමිස ප්‍රීතියක් ඇතිවේ.

මිනිසාගේ යුතුකම මිනිසාට සේවය කිරීමයි යන තේමාවට අනුව “පන්සලෙන් ගමට” යන සංකල්පය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරමින් සමාජ සේවා කටයුතු රාශියක් මා විසින් සිදුකරමින් පවතී. ලාභාපේක්ෂාවෙන් තොරව සිදුකරනු ලබන සමාජ සත්කාර හා ශාසනික සියලු ක්‍රියාවලදී මා පැවිදි කළ ගුරු දේවෝත්තමයාණන් වහන්සේටත් ඇති දැඩි කළ දෙමාපියන්ටත් පෝෂණය කළ දායක දායිකා පිංවතුන්ටත් පිං අත් පත් වේවායි…! පතන අතර, මාගේ සසර ගමන කෙටිකර ගන්නට මෙම සියලු පිංකම් හේතු වේවායි පතමි…!

Message from the Chief Incumbent

I am very happy to be able to do something for this sacred land and the Buddha Sasana with a history of over 150 years. I was born in 1961 in a very difficult and beautiful village called Seepoth in Berannawa in the Kegalle District of the upcountry. Later, in 1974 I was ordained, under the guidance of Ven. Dedugala Kashyapa. Having been a monk for nearly five decades, I find great joy in reflecting on life. When one remembers what has been done for the temple and for the perpetuation of the Buddha Sasana, one is overjoyed.

I have been doing a lot of social work implementing the concept of ‘Temple to Village’ under the theme ‘Man’s duty is to serve man’. Thank you to my master who ordained me, to the foster parents and to the contributors who nurtured me in all the non-profit social service and Sasana activities …! While wishing, I wish all these Pinkams to shorten my life journey …!

ආචාර්ය, පුජ්‍ය ඇත්කඳවල සද්ධාජීව නාහිමි.

විහාරස්ථානයක් නම් නිස්කලංක හා නිහඩ ස්ථානයක් විය යුතුය. ජනතාව විහාරස්ථානය පැමිණෙන්නේ වන්දනාමාන කිරීමට ම පමණක් නොවේ. මනස වර්ධනය කිරීමටත් නිස්කලංක පරිසරයක් පහස විදීමටත් විහාරස්ථානයට පැමිනෙනවා. ප්‍රසන්නවූ දර්ශනයක් මනස නිස්කලංක කර ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය වන අතර ඒ සදහා පාදුක්ක, අරුක්වත්ත, ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරය සුදුසුම ස්ථානයක්. මනාව පවත්වාගෙන යන මනස්කාන්ත විහාරස්ථානයක්.

විහාරස්ථානයක් කෙසේ නඩත්තු කළ යුතු දැයි භික්ෂුවක් හොදින් තේරුම් ගත යුතුයි. පුජ්‍ය බෙරන්නාවේ විමල නාහිමියන් අනෙකුත් භික්ෂුන් වහන්සේලාට අධ්‍යාපනය ලබා දෙන අතර විහාරස්ථානයක් කෙසේ දියුණුව අභිවෘද්ධිය කරා රැගෙන යා යුතු දැයි සැමට ආදර්ශ සපයයි. පරිසරය නඩත්තු කිරීම පමණක් නොව කරුණා භරිත වචනයෙන් හා ක්‍රියාවෙන් ද ආදර්ශමත් වෙයි.

එබැවින් මෙම විහාරස්ථානය අනෙකුතු විහාරස්ථාන වලට හා ආගමික ස්ථානයන්ට ආදර්ශයකි. ජිවත්වන සියලු දෙනාටම මෙම විහාරස්ථානය පාරාදීසයකි.

A temple should be a calm and quiet place, as people come to temples not just to worship; they also come to relax and uplift the mind. Relaxing the mind is aided by the serene scenery, as Padukka Arukwatta Sri Maha Viharaya is a well-maintained and beautiful temple. Whoever comes to the temple can relax and purify the mind through mental cultivation.

As monks, we should understand how to maintain the temple premises. Ven. Berennawe Wimala Thera can educate monks and be a role model for other monks to learn how to uplift the temple; not just through maintaining the environment, but also by using kind words and actions with other monks.

This temple is an exemplar for all other temples and religious refugees. It is a paradise for all living beings.

ආචාර්ය, ශාස්ත්‍රපති, පූජ්‍යපාද දන්දෙණියේ සුගතසිරි නාහිමි

බස්නාහිර පළාතේ හේවාගම් කොරළයේ පාදුක්ක නගරයට ආසන්නයේ පිහිටි අරුක්වත්ත, පාදුක්ක මොරගහතැන්න ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරය රමණීය කඳු ගැටයත් මත පිහිටි මනස්කාන්ත පරිසරයකින් අලංකාර වූ සම්භාවනීය විහාරස්ථානයකි.

19 වන සියවසේ පාදුක්ක ප්‍රදේශය මුල්කොට ගෙන සුව්ශාල ධර්ම ශාස්ත්‍රීය සේවාවන් ඉටුකළ කුරුගල පියරතන මහා ස්වාමීන්ද්‍රයන් වහන්සේගේ එකී සේවාවේ ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස ක්‍රි.ව 1881 දී පමණ මෙම විහාරස්ථානය ආරම්භ විය. එතැන් සිට විහාරාධීපතීන්වය දැරූ මහතෙරවරු මෙම විහාරස්ථානයේ සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් කැපවී ක්‍රියා කළහ. එවකට විහාරාධිපතිත්වය දරමින් සිටි මණ්ඩාවල ශ්‍රී සෝරත නාහිමි පාණන් වහන්සේ 1996 වර්ෂයේ දී අපවත් වීමෙන් පසු විහාරස්ථානයේ සියලු වගකීම් පැවරුනේ ගරු කටයුතු බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමිපාණන් වෙතය. තරුණ භික්ෂුවක් ලෙස සියලු වගකීම් භාරගත් විමල හිමියෝ ස්වකීය ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ සහෝදර සීතාවපුර ප්‍රධාන සංඝනායක දේදුගල කාශ්‍යප හිමිපාණන් වහන්සේගේ ආශිර්වාදය ලබමින් වර්තමාන සංවර්ධනයේ නියමුවා බවට පත් වූහ.

දිරාපත් වෙමින් පැවති විහාර මන්දිරය හා ධර්ම ශාලාව ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම මෙන් ම චෛත්‍ය රාජයාණන් වහන්සේ, දෙමහල් සංඝාවාසය, ධර්මශාලාව, තෙමහල් දහම් පාසල් ගොඩනැගිල්ල, පුස්තකාලය, සීමා මන්දිරය, ගිනිහල්ගෙය, මකර තොරණ සහිත වළාකුළු බැම්ම, බෝධි ප්‍රාකාරය ආදී විහාර අංගත් දර්ශනීය විහාර භුමියත් නිර්මාණය කිරීමත් ගෞරව ශාස්ත්‍රවේදී බෙරන්නාවේ විමල හිමිපාණන් වහන්සේගේ මුලිකත්වයෙන් ඉටුවිය.

දර්ශනීය විහාරස්ථානයක් නිර්මාණය කිරීම මෙන් ම ජනතාවගේ ආධ්‍යාත්ම සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් මාසික සීල භාවනා වැඩසටහන්, පොහෝ දින වැඩසටහන්, විශේෂ ධර්ම දේශනා සිදුවන අතර දරුවන් 1500ක් පමණ දහම් අධ්‍යාපනය ලබන විද්‍යාචන්ද්‍ර දහම් පාසල මගින් ඔවුන්ගේ ධර්ම ඥානය හා ගුණධරම සංවර්ධනය කරයි. මේ හැරුනු විට රෝගී හා වයෝවෘද්ධ අය වෙනුවෙන් විවිධ සත්කාර සේවා පැවැත්වෙන අතර හිසට සෙවනක් නොමැති අසරණ පවුල් වෙනුවෙන් නිවාස තනාදීමේ කටයුත්ත ද වසර ගණනක සිට සිදුකරනු ලබයි. ඒ අනුව මේ වන විට අංග සම්පූර්ණ නිවාස 40ක් පමණ පරිත්‍යාග කොට ඇත. අඩු ආදායම් ලාභී පවුල් සඳහා වියලි ආහාර ද්‍රව්‍ය, ඹෟෂධ වර්ග පරිත්‍යාගයන් සිදුවන අතර වාර්ෂික ලේ දන්දීමේ කදවුරු පවත්වා අසරණ රෝගීන්ට පිහිට වීමද අගය කළ යුතු සේවාවකි.

මෙවැනි ජනතා මෙහෙවරක යෙදෙන පාදුක්ක, අරුක්වත්ත මොරගහතැන්න ශ්‍රී මහා විහාරය විහාරස්ථානයක් කෙසේ පැවතිය යුතුද යන්නටත් විහාරස්ථානයක කාර්‍යභාරය කෙසේ විය යුතු ද යන්නටත් කදිම නිදර්ශනයකි.

Message from the Shasthrapathi, Ven. Dandeniye
Sugathasiri Thero

Arukwatta, Padukka Moragahatenna Sri Maha Viharaya, located near the town of Padukka on the Hewagam Korala in the Western Province, is a magnificent temple situated on a beautiful hill.

This temple was established around 1881 AD as a result of the service rendered by the Ven. Kurugala Piyarathana Maha Thera rendered great theological services to the Padukka area in the 19th century. The chief monks who have been the Incumbents of the temple since then have been dedicated to the development of this temple. After the death of the then Chief Incumbent of Ven. Mandawala Sri Soratha Thero in 1996, all the responsibilities of the temple was handed over to Ven. Wimala Thero, who assumed all the responsibilities as a young monk, became the pioneer of the present development with the blessings of his elder brother, Ven. Dedugala Kashyapa Thero.

Renovation of the dilapidated temple and Dharma Hall as well as the construction of temples such as the Chaitya, the two-storied monastery, the Dharmashala, the three-storied Dhamma School building, the library, the Seema Mandir, the firehouse, the cloud wall with the dragon pandal and the Bodhi tree. It was initiated by Ven. Berannawe Wimala Thero.

Monthly Meditation programs, Poya Day programs, and special sermons are conducted for the spiritual development of the people as well as the creation of a spectacular temple.

The Vidyachandra Dhamma School, which studies about 1500 more than children, develops their Dhamma knowledge and virtues. Apart from this, various care services are provided for the sick and the elderly and the construction of houses for the needy families who have no shelter has been carried out for many years. Accordingly, about 40 fully equipped houses have been donated so far. Donations of dry food items and medicines to low-income families and the holding of annual blood donation camps to help needy patients are also appreciated.

The Arukwatta Moragahatenna Sri Maha Viharaya in Padukka, which is engaged in public service in this manner, is a perfect example of what a temple should be and what the function of a temple should be.

The Venerable Berannawe Wimala Thero, the pioneer of all these activities, and the Rajakeeya Pandit Ven. Ruwalwela Chandawimala thero,Ven. Maliyadevapura Siriwimala thero, Ven. Debokkawe Samitha thero, ven. Gonamulle Wimalasara thera & Kulagana Committee, Buddhist Association should bless all those who sponsor the development of the temple.
